Recommendations:

Ø  You should be sure about the information you will provide in the document. Therefore deliberate first about what you are going to include.

Ø  It is important to inform yourself about the company to which you are going to address your job inquiry. Include the information related to the job you are inquiring for, this means the educational background as well as work experience related to the job you are applying for.

Ø  You also should include a cover letter (we´ll explain how to write one soon.)

Your resume should include the following information:

  • Education: All the courses in which you have participated starting from the present and going backwards in time
  • Other Knowledge: knowledge of computer programs, languages you know (indicate the level of performance you possess in written and orally), specific knowledge and more
  • Regarding the languages: If you only know one language, then indicate it in the chapter “Other knowledge”. However, if you know more than one, indicate those in new chapter titles “Language” indicating the level of oral and written performance.
  • If you have experience  in voluntary work you should include it within your work experience indicating the period of time and the supervisor during your voluntary work.

Ø  References

Indicate the dates of the persons who could give an objective opinion about you.

Here some recommendations regarding the format:

Point out the titles in letter of bigger size and leave space between the title and the following text. We recommend type of letter Arial or Times New Roman. For titles use letter size 16 and underline them or write them in fat black letters. For the rest of the text use letter size 12 and the same type of letter than the titles.

If possible, insert a photo on the right side of the top of the first page.

Most companies require resumes with no more than two pages. Therefore avoid including irrelevant information.

In the following you will find a sample resume which is meant to be a guide for you:
