Hi, dear friends, Today we are enjoying one of our cultural activity we could almost denominate “part of the Institute” : We are taking about the Tropical Fruits Session. This activity consists in a presentation of a variety of tropical fruits followed by the preparation of a typical Costa Rican recipe. Amongst the fruits we tasted today are the following ones: Pineapple (of course our star could not lack!), banana, mango, pawpaw, watermelon, avocado, pomegranate, passionfruit, cas guava, zapote, guayaba. The recipe we present is one of the most typical Costa Rican recipes: tropical fruit salad, which includes at least the first four fruits mentioned. There are different varieties of this fruit salad because some add other fruits depending on the season. Please note that tropical fruits are available all year through although there are special seasons for each fruit and the taste may differ ….If you taste it in a restaurant they will probable serve it with jelly or with ice-cream. The way we prepare it at our institute is to add at the end some sugared evaporated milk which gives it a very sweet touch … Our students also learned about seets, tastes and they participated in the preparation of the salad: peeling and cutting fruits the way it should be, which they had been explained beforehand. Every time there are different fruits available but the ones we tasted today were really delicious! We hope that our students will try to repeat this recipe at home in the US and so will remember the moments we shared together today! Wish you "juicy" day!
