Excursion to volcano Arenal of the students of Coastal Carolina University PDF Print E-mail

Hello,

How are you, dear friends of the IECR blog?

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend. The students of Coastal Carolina University indeed enjoyed an unforgettable one on their excursion to volcano Arenal.

This volcano is one of the still active volcanoes of this continent and attracks thousands of visitors every year due to its beauty. Staying at least one night is what we would recommend to anyone interested in this natural beauty: you will have the opportunity of observing the permanent explosions and red lava and stones rolling down.

On Saturday morning the excursion started early and at about 11 am. our students arrived at the village of La Fortuna located nearby the volcano. After checking-in at the hotel La Pradera, we had been served a typical Costa Rican lunch. Our first destination was to explore the paths around volcano Arenal for about two hours during which we could appreciate lava stone formations of previous explosions as well as tropical nature.  We even had the chance of observing green parrots! After this exercise, we returned to the hotel where we enjoyed a delicious dinner.

A night visit of volcano Arenal was the last objective of that Saturday, where we unfortunately could not appreciate this natural colossus as it was planned to due to the clouds which difficulted the view. However, we got an idea of this spectacle and even though it was very impressive!

Sunday morning started with a sumptuous breakfast buffet style followed by a visit of the nearby waterfall. We took a bath and played with the many fish whose habitat is the clear water of this tropical river. An additional option was to do horse riding which some of our students enjoyed a lot!

Lunch was ready at time and followed by a visit of the Baldi hot springs where we stayed several hours in order to relax body and soul so as to return “completely renewed” to San Jose.I n the afternoon we returned to La Fortuna so as to have a quick dinner in order to start our drive back home to our host families who were waiting for us in San Jose.

We recommend you to visit this impressive volcano and its lovely and peaceful landscape if you ever plan to visit Costa Rica!

Take care!
